REIN Awards – and the winner is….

Hello Everyone Real Estate Investing in Hamilton Ontario!!

We’ve been on quite a run lately!!

• Real Estate Agent of the Year 2017 by Canadian Real Estate Magazine
• A new personal best, THREE members of the Mr Hamilton Team family were awarded as one of the Top Players for 2017
• A new personal best, we were nominated as a finalist in THREE categories at the Real Estate Investment Network’s (REIN) 2017 award
  • Real Estate Agent of the Year for the third time
  • Real Estate Professional of the Year for the first time, a category normally reserved for Accountants, Lawyers, Mortgage professionals.
• A member of Mr Hamilton Team family, Charles Wah, won a major award: Innovative Investor of the Year. Personally, I was most excited for this one 🙂
• For the fifth consecutive year, we were finalists for REIN’s most prestigious award for leadership in the community, the Michael Millenaar Award, and for the second time (first in 2013) we were bestowed the honour as winner.

Here is the description of the award. I did not know Michael personally, however as Don Campbell fondly remembers him as the REIN member who would always be there to step up and help others. He was the definition of the word “selfless” and I am truly grateful to be honoured as the REIN member who upholds and stands for the same principles as both Michael and REIN.

“The Michael Millenaar Memorial Leadership Award is presented to a Member who goes above and beyond the call of duty in assisting other Members to become successful in their real estate acquisitions. This Member willingly completes selfless acts, shares their knowledge, makes others feel welcome, and does it all without ever asking for anything in return. This is truly someone who understands the philosophy of: “The More You Give, The More You Get In Return.””

The awards and wins are what I share. What you don’t see, is what goes on behind the scenes. I’ve been divorced, I’ve hit bottom physically and emotionally a couple times with scars from shingles on my face to prove it. I’ll go into more detail in the book I’m writing, and how these challenges made me stronger. I’m currently injured from the BJJ tournament and under self-imposed medical suspension. Two of my properties are currently vacant. But I’ll recover, I’ll survive, and I will never give up.

As the great Rocky Balboa said: “It’s not about how hard you can hit but about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.”

Unfortunately, I was away the same night in Cleveland for Dan Kennedy’s Renegade Marketing 2.0, so Erika Spencer and James Maggs were in attendance in my place and James accepted the award on behalf of the team.

Below is the speech James was to give:

 

No I’m not Erwin Szeto, he’s much more Asian and I’m better looking than he is. Erwin wrote that, so it’s OK for me to say it. Erwin says he’s sorry and couldn’t make it tonight, as he’s in Ohio at another conference.

My name is James Maggs, REIN member since 2012, here along with Erika Spencer to represent the Mr. Hamilton team. Erika and I are “Mr. Hamilton Team” coaches, even though we’ve been acquiring a lot more income properties in St. Catharines and Niagara Region lately. We are responsible for the day to day servicing to our investor clients and we deserve most of the credit for this award.  Again, Erwin’s words.

I met Erwin at the Toronto ACRE event six years ago. I had a couple properties under my belt while working with a regular real estate agent, but it was a struggle. When I met Erwin, he showed me faster, more effective strategies for cash flow with less effort, allowing me to quit my 9-5 job at Bell Canada and put me on a fast track to retirement. I’ve since increased my net worth and cash flow significantly and achieved my personal Belize in Costa Rica. Thanks to my real estate investments, last year I was able to purchase a brand-new condo townhouse in Costa Rica, just meters from the beach, and I plan to spend five weeks there this coming winter.

I’m just one of the numerous success stories among the Mr Hamilton family, and Erwin wants the same for all of you.  Personal Costa Ricas for everyone, so feel free to come speak to one of us at break or at the social. Erwin’s given me a bunch of money for drinks should we win. Let’s spend it, or else I have to return it to him.
