Drink up Hamilton Investors! The vacant, former Lakeport Brewery in Hamilton’s north end, east of James and it’s 50,000 square foot facility will be back in business later this year. The former company best known for it’s “24 for $24” marketing was sold to Labatts and production was moved to London, ON in 2010.
The new brewers is Arts and Science Brewing company which includes Burlington’s Nickel Brook Brewing Co and they make one of my favourite dark beers “Waterloo Dark”. 10,000 square feet of the space will be for retail and hospitality which makes me excited as I’ve always enjoyed touring brewing facilities (Labatt and Steam Whistle in Toronto and Alexander Keiths in Halifax) and beer tasting 🙂
Implications for you investors? As always, real estate values follows the jobs and the 
brewery will employ 50 people and grow as production increases. Also important is breweries emit gases so you do not want a property too close by as the smells will negatively affect your ability to rent and property values.
